Today's Good News: You Are Called to Love Everyone

February 2023 |

In our crazy, messed up, sometimes scary world, filled with people so different from you-- you are called to love everyone!

But how do you do that when you are surrounded by people whose race, language, culture, or beliefs about the world you don’t know, and certainly do not understand?

The word of God in Matthew 22 says: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ You can see why it is so important to love yourself as a first step to loving anyone else. But even when you love yourself, it is still hard to love others, especially when they don’t look, think, act, vote, and believe like you---people who are so different from you.

The first way to begin loving everyone as yourself is to start seeing each person the way God sees and loves them--just as they are.

The next thing is to always use language about others that honors them and does not put them down. Love everybody the way you want to be loved, just as you are!

That's today's good news!
